Question:
I've been summoned for jury duty in an important case. I look forward to jury service, but I'm worried I'll lose my job. Do I have any rights?
Answer:
Yes. In Texas, you can't lose your job because you were absent due to jury service. Your employer must hold your job open while you perform this important civic duty.
Unfortunately, Texas does not have a law requiring employers to pay employees their regular pay while they are on jury duty. Your company's obligation to pay your wages will depend upon your employment agreement as well as the federal labor laws that apply to you.
