We are often asked, “what should I do if my child is injured in a wreck?” The first thing that you should do if your child is injured in a wreck is take your child to the doctor. A competent physician should check your child out to make sure that you understand the extent of your child’s injuries. After your child has been checked out by a doctor be sure and take pictures of any visible injuries that your child has suffered. Also, keep a journal of the effect of the injuries on your child. Don’t let your child talk to anybody outside of your presence, especially anybody from an insurance company. The deadlines for a child’s claim are different from the deadlines for an adult claim. If you have any questions or if your child is seriously injured, you may want to consider consulting with an attorney to understand your rights and options.
