How Much Does it Cost to Hire an Attorney?

Everybody wants to know, how much does it cost to hire an attorney?  In the typical case, there are basically two costs. One cost are the out of pocket expenses and the other cost is the attorney’s fee for his time or her time. Personal Injury cases are typically handled on a contingent fee system. In that situation, the attorney advances those out of pocket expenses and then is paid a percentage of the client’s settlement or recovery. That percentage should be based upon how difficult it is to prosecute the case. At our office the customary percentage is one third or thirty three percent if we don’t have to go to court. The important thing to know is that under the contingent fee system it cosst you nothing to consult with an attorney or to have your case prosecuted and you pay nothing unless your receive a settlement. Here at Roberts & Roberts we are not going to take your case unless we think you have a good case.
