Matthew T. Milam

Professional Background

Matt began his legal career at Wilson, Robertson & Cornelius, P.C., in Tyler, Texas, in September 2008. For the next fifteen years, he represented individuals and businesses in numerous civil matters. His practice included representing insurance companies and individual defendants in personal injury claims across East Texas. In addition, he litigated cases involving contested probate matters, commercial claims, construction disputes, and oil and gas disputes. Matt also has extensive experience representing and counseling fiduciaries, including bank trust departments, regarding the administration of trusts and estates and compliance with fiduciary duties.

Matt joined Roberts & Roberts in July 2023. His practice focuses on helping individuals who have been injured in automobile accidents and premises liability cases. He seeks to leverage his experience as an insurance defense attorney and his broad litigation experience to provide unique insight and to effectively and aggressively prosecute claims on behalf of injured Texans. Matt also continues to represent individuals and businesses in a variety of other civil matters.

Matt currently serves as a board member and officer for the Smith County Bar Association. He is also a Life Fellow of the Texas Bar Foundation, a member of the Texas Trial Lawyers Association, and a member of the American Association for Justice.

Professional Education

Matt completed his undergraduate studies at the University of Texas at Austin. He graduated with a Bachelor of Arts (B.A.) in English in May 2005, and was honored as a College Scholar. He then attended Baylor University School of Law where he obtained his Juris Doctor (J.D.) in 2008.

Matt is licensed to practice in all Texas state courts and before the United States District Courts for the Eastern, Northern, and Western Districts of Texas.

Personal Background and Interests

Matt was born in Houston, Texas. He moved to Whitehouse, Texas, as a child and graduated from Whitehouse High School in 2001. He is married to his lovely wife Chelsea, who is also a lawyer. Matt and Chelsea enjoy spending their free time with family and traveling to new places. They also have two dogs and a cat who always keep things interesting.
