ArediaIf you or a loved one has suffered a side effects injury by taking the prescription drug, Aredia (generic: pamidronate disodium), it is important to act quickly to protect your right to a possible cash settlement award. Manufactured by Novartis, Aredia is one of a class of drugs known as bisphosphonates. The drug is typically prescribed to treat osteoporosis in postmenopausal women, to promote bone strengthening and as a drug therapy for Paget’s disease (a serious condition that causes enlarged and/or misshapen bones). Unfortunately, a number of bisphosphonate drugs, including Aredia, have a long list of minor to life-threatening side effects that have resulted in numerous lawsuits against Novartis.

Minor to moderate complaints associated with Aredia are constipation, diarrhea, dizziness, flu-like symptoms, stomach pain and more. Among other serious to potentially life-threatening side effects, Aredia use has been linked to atypical femur and thigh bone fracturing, chronic and severe musculoskeletal pain, acute kidney failure, esophageal cancer, and perhaps the most common side effect, osteonecrosis of the jaw (ONJ).

ONJ is oftentimes referred to as Jaw Death or Dead Jaw disease because the jawbone suffers literal bone death and subsequent decomposition. This condition is painful, disfiguring, and debilitating to the point of having a severely negative impact on quality of life.
